Govinda Mahārāj: [Do you] have any questions? You can ask. Happily I shall try to give answer. Yes Prabhu.
Question: How do we know about exclusive devotion?
Govinda Mahārāj: What is exclusive devotion.
    00:00:19
    anyābhilāṣitā-śūnyaṁ
    jñāna-karmādy-anāvṛtam
    ānukūlyena kṛṣṇānu-
    śīlanaṁ bhaktir uttamā
    (Chaitanya-charitāmṛta: Madhya, 19.167)
    00:00:26
This [is] told [by] Śrīla Rūpa Goswāmī. He got this instruction and it is in Nārada Pañcharātra. [That text] is also about exclusive devotion. I’m explaining [that] but first I am telling [the] śloka.
    00:00:42
    sarvopādhi-vinirmuktaṁ
    tat-paratvena nirmalam
    hṛṣīkeṇa hṛṣīkeśa-
    sevanaṁ bhaktir uchyate
    (Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu: 1.1.12)

This is the line of exclusive devotion. Karma-yoga, jñāna-yoga, haṭha-yoga and bhakti-yoga; these four we have seen in the scriptures, [along with] the word yoga. Karma-yoga is yoga, jñāna-yoga is also yoga and haṭha-yoga is also yoga and bhakti-yoga is also yoga. But [if one] has any attachment to karma-yoga, jñāna-yoga or haṭha-yoga, he cannot practice exclusive bhakti-yoga. Exclusive bhakti-yoga is [like] that. Karma-miśra-bhakti, [means] mixing [bhakti] with karma, mixing with them and mixing with [these other yogas], is not exclusive devotion to Kṛṣṇa. And here exclusive devotional nature shown is Śrīmad Bhāgavatam. Many ways, many where, but vert gist way I can say,
    00:02:06
    yathā taror mūla-niṣechanena
    tṛpyanti tat-skandha-bhujopaśākhāḥ
    prāṇopahārāch ca yathendriyāṇāṁ
    tathaiva sarvārhaṇam achyutejyā
    (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 4.31.14)

If you put the water on the root of a tree, whole tree will get the nourishment. Everything will get the nourishment. This type of faith. When you will keep for the service of Kṛṣṇa only, nothing else. No other God, no other Demigod, only exclusively your attention will go for the service to Kṛṣṇa, then everybody will be happy, all Gods will be happy. And you will get this line exclusively. And that is called ‘exclusive devotion’. Giving all you attention only to Kṛṣṇa, not to others. That is the line of exclusive devotion. Then all will be honored, not dishonor any God or Demigod. You will give the honor to them, but your service attentively and exclusively will go to Kṛṣṇa. All the service. Service means
    00:03:43
    śravaṇam kīrttanaṁ viṣṇoḥ
    samaraṇaṁ pāda-sevanam
    archanaṁ vandanaṁ dāsyaṁ
    sakhyam ātma-nivedanam
    (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 7.5)
    00:03:52
[These are the] nine kinds of practicing process. When the devotee [is] giving only to Kṛṣṇa, [only] for Kṛṣṇa, [then] you can say it is exclusive devotion. And [the] heart must be clean [of] any kind of ‘want’. That ‘want’ is karma, [or] some jñāna-prayāsa [which] means attempt [for] jñāna; to take help of knowledge [or] to take help of the activity and you will respect them and [then] do that seva, not like that. What you have, with one Tulasī leaf and one spoon of Ganges water, through that you [can] worship, but you don’t want to give your attention to get anything from others. Only exclusively you will try to satisfy your Lord Kṛṣṇa. That is exclusive devotion.
    00:05:09
When you hear anything about religion, only try to hear Kṛṣṇa-kathā. Any [time you] want to glorify, you must to glorify Kṛṣṇa and his devotees. [When] everything is related with Kṛṣṇa, you can get a relation [with Him]. That is not harmful, [rather] that is the line of exclusive devotion. And if your attention will go the other way [you may think], “I need this and for that I’m worshiping Kṛṣṇa. I need this, for that I’m honoring Lord Śiva or other demigods and also worshiping Kṛṣṇa…” But [exclusive devotion] is not like that.
    00:05:09
kṛṣṇa āmāra māre rākhe jāne sarva kāla
    00:06:07
If Kṛṣṇa wants to kill me, I want to die. And if Kṛṣṇa wants to keep me for his service I shall do that. [In] this way, when all [our] attention and mood of service will only go to [the] service to Kṛṣṇa, that is exclusive [devotion].
